Built in Melbourne for use on the Mornington Peninsula, starting from Frankston, it will hold 120 passengers and weighs 90 tons. by replacing five buses now running, it will save tyres, petrol and manpower. Designed on arsterity lines, the bus has seats of wood and tubular steel. It took more than five moths to build, and today officers of the Transport Board, who have advised on its construction, gave it their final approval after inspection. March 26, 1949. Hypnosis Birth for Shinwell's Grandson Mrs. Peggy Shinwell, wife of Mr. Ernest Shinwell, son of the Defence Minister, gave birth to a boy under medical hypnotism at the West Dulwich Clinic early today. The boy weighted eight pounds. Fewer than ten hours after baby was born, I found 30-year-old Mrs. Shinwell sitting ***** in bed and receiving visitor. "I feel wonderful and walked back from the labour ward to my room as soon as my son was born," she told me. "I was conscious of what was happening, but did not feel any pain. I can remember everything perfectly. "As I had my pre-natal examinations under hypnotism I have felt no pain" at any stage at all." Proudly holding her baby, Mrs. Shinwell said the most important aspect of hypnotic birth was that the mother felt relatively fresh and relaxed after the baby was born and was not so exhausted. Nocturnal: Here is- one night's haul of cockroaches from the home of Mr. A. Wills, at Boundary-street, Croydon, one of those invaded by millions of the pest, thought to breed in a nearby brick- pit. Stratford Tube Train Crash -- No Central Line trains are operating today between Leytonstone and Liverpool Street due to the crash and special buses are operating. This photograph shows a section of the queue for the buses at Leytonstone today. Disaster occurred on London's central line last night, when at 7 p.m. in the rush hour, a packed tube train crashed into the back of another at Stratford. Imperial Airways Ship Crashes At Toronto - Members of the crew on the wing as the boat drifted to a stop. The Imperial Airways flying boat Cambria, which has successfully crossed the Atlantic Ocean three times, crashed in her landing at Toronto, Canada, September 3rd, when the gaint craft hit a floating landing, tearing a hole in one pontoon. Broken Glass For Record Breaking - Burmah prepares his bed of broken glass. In Milan the fakir "Burmah" has just started an attempt to break the world record for fasting. In the presence of a number of commentators and journalists he was screwed into a glass flask. Before he lay down he broke a number of Bottles on the bottom of the flask thus giving himself the traditional bed of broken glass. Army Twins - Peter and David together in Berlin. They are standing before an engraved pillar in Cavalry Barracks, built by Hitler. Now used by the Royal Welch Fusiliers, the barracks have been rebuilt and renamed Wavell Barracks. Peter is on the right. Peter and David Trustram Eve, twin sons of the Chairman of the Central Land Board, are both serving as 2nd Lieutenants with the British Army in Berlin.
