(the G.O.C. in - C Eastern Command) presented British Empire Medals to 45 recipients, 26 of whom were military and 20 civilian. In this picture he is putting the finishing touches to a map-drawing on a Kodatrace which has taken nine months to produce. These tracks take anything up to a year to make, and are compiled from 3 multitude of sources, including railway timetables, poet office guides and local guides. Life in an Internment Camp for German Nazis. Nazi internees cooking their own food from parcels received from outside the camp.. They are cooking on home-made stoves using wood chips as fuel, in Camp Roosevelt, Hamer Germany. At Hemer, in the British occupied zone of Germany 3,300 Nazis, mostly Gestapo and 6.6. men are interned in "camp Roosevelt', formerly a German prisoner-of-war camp. It was known as Stalag 6b. During the war, up to 30,000 allied troops were held there, and were finally liberated by the Americans, who gave the Camp its new name. After extensive enquiries by the Intelligence authorities some of the internees are released. May 1, 1946.

Geiger Counter Test to Establish Age of the Kentmere Boat -- A geoger counter is to be used to establish the age of the "Kentmrere Boat" an archaelogical relic discovered last May in a dried out lake near Kentmere, Westmorland by Mr. Leslie Ridding, an employee of the Cape Asbestos Company. The boat, 14ft. long, flat-bottomed, with a round stern and shaped bow, has created great interest among naval historians and it is thought that it may date from the Norman Conquest. For the geiger test, a piece of the hull will be submitted to the "carbon 14" test with now apparatus made at Harwell and recently installed at the British Museum. September 20, 1955.
