Model of a 24-pounder Gun on a Carriage and Slide. Model of a 24 pound gun on a shore. The 57 cm long loop has a caliber of 33 mm. Inscriptions are engraved on the course, along with crossed anchors and palm branches. The rolling horse consists of two parellate cheeks with four stages and an elliptical cut-out end, which are connected by the calf and the sole plate. The boxes are all of simple five-board nailed construction and have a deep association with America's so-called "Pilgrim Century." They were avidly sought after by the earliest collectors of seventeenth-century American oak furniture, hence their acquisition by the museum in 1910 as part of the foundation for the museum's collection of early American furniture.
