Representation of the different stages of mitosis: prophase where the chromatin of the nucleus of the mother cell is organized into 46 pairs of chromosomes, the nuclear envelope is broken, the centrioles move towards opposite poles, and the mitotic spindle is formed. Metaphase is the stage when the chromosomes line up at the center of the mitotic spindle. Anaphase is the phase when the elements of the cell begin to organize and separate identically to give rise to two daughter cells. Telophase is the stage when the two cells begin to separate and the nucleus to reform. At interphase, the chromatin of the nucleus of the two identical daughter cells has uncoiled.

Immune cells, actors of innate and adaptive immunity. When a micro-organism or microbe (virus, bacteria) penetrates the body's barriers (skin, mucous membranes), this invasion of foreign bodies triggers the immune system's defenses. Principle of gene therapies ex vivo and in vivo. Gene therapy ex vivo allies the technics of gene therapy and stem cell therapy. It is a sampling of the patient's cells, that are then corrected by gene transfer (use of a viral vector), then reimplanted (autotransplantation). Gene therapy in vivo consists in injecting directly the vector bearing the therapeutic genetics into the patient's body, without going through a transplantation of cells.
