Under the drier and on top the town sits Patsy Ann Barkway on a pile of London telephone directories. Soon she will have the waviest waves and the crispest curls of any three-year-old in Cricklewood. Patsy Ann would have stayed all day, sitting with grown-ups, enjoying the clipping, the trimming, the lotions the peeps in the glass. But all good things come to an end. At last Patsy Ann had to be taken home to Fordwyke-road, with the people she left behind in the hairdressers saying: "Isn't she lovely." August 7, 1952.
