THULE AIR BASE, Greenland - Nestled in a remote corner at the Top of the World lies Thule Air Base, Greenland, the Department of Defenses northernmost installation, located 750 miles north of the Arctic Circle, Aug. 16, 2022. Operated by the 821st Space Base Group under Space Base Delta 1, Thule AB hosts the 12th Space Warning Squadron, which operates the Upgraded Early Warning Radar and the 23rd Space Operations Squadron, Detachment 1, which provides telemetry, tracking and command operations as part of the global Satellite Control Network. Thule AB also features a 10,000-foot runway and the northernmost deep-water port in the world.

International Year of Asronomy 'Observe the Moon Night' public event on Shenandoah Plaza, located in NASA Research Park at NASA's Ames Research Center, Moffett Field, Calif. The moon observation eent featured dozens of telescopes set up by local amateur astronomers and astronomy clubs for the public to view the surface o the moon and other celestial objects. NASA experts will be on hand to provide information about NASA's plans for lunar exploration, including the recently launch Lunar Crater Observation Sensing Satellite (LCROSS) and Lunar Reconnaissance Obriter (LRO) missions.
