The Book of Kells (Irish: Leabhar Cheanannais) (Dublin, Trinity College Library, MS A. I. (58), sometimes known as the Book of Columba) is an illuminated manuscript Gospel book in Latin, containing the four Gospels of the New Testament together with various prefatory texts and tables. It was created by Celtic monks ca. 800 or slightly earlier. The text of the Gospels is largely drawn from the Vulgate, although it also includes several passages drawn from the earlier versions of the Bible known as the Vetus Latina. It is a masterwork of Western calligraphy and represents the pinnacle of Insular illumination. It is also widely regarded as Ireland's finest national treasure. The illustrations and ornamentation of the Book of Kells surpass that of other Insular Gospel books in extravagance and complexity. The Bezeklik Thousand Buddha Caves (Bozikeli Qian Fo Dong) are complex of Buddhist cave grottos dating from the 5th to the 9th centuries. There are 77 rock-cut caves at the site. Some ceilings are painted with a large Buddha surrounded by other figures, including Indians, Persians and Europeans. The quality of the murals vary with some being artistically naive while others are masterpieces of religious art.

A beautiful young Jewish woman, Esther, was the queen of King Ahasuerus of Persia. When the kings chief advisor, Haman, ordered all the Jews in Persia killed, Esther appealed to the king. At the left, Ahasuerus receives Esther and agrees to attend a banquet she has prepared. At the banquet (right), Esther asks Ahasuerus, who had not known she was Jewish, to spare her people. He grants her request, and Haman is later put to death.

Dala'il al-Khayrat Prayer Book dated A.H. 1039/A.D. 1629-30 Muhammad bin Ahmad bin 'Abd Al-Rahman Al-Riyahi This manuscript is one of the earliest dated and illustrated copies of the renowned Dala'il al-Khayrat (Proofs of Good Deeds), an Arabic text and collection of prayers meant as blessings for the Prophet Muhammad. Composed in Morocco in the mid-fifteenth century by the Moroccan Sufi and mystic scholar Muhammad b. Sulayman al-Jazuli (d. 1465), the text gained popularity from the sixteenth century onward and spread throughout northern Africa and other parts of the Islamic world, making its way as far east as China. As a manual of devotion for the Prophet, it became one of the most copied religious and devotional texts in Sunni Islam, after the Qur'an.
