Then there is the thyroid gland, larger in children and the thymus, which has become almost nonexistent in adults. And finally, there is the pancreas, adrenal glands and gonads. In boys, the gonads represent the testes while in girls, they are the ovaries. But this system also consists of organs endowed with endocrine cells as in the digestive tract.

This system is made up of a network of lymphatic vessels and lymphoid organs. There are two types of lymphoid organs. The primary lymphoid organs are the thymus and bone marrow. Lymphocytes are produced, develop and are selected from primary lymphoid organs. But there are also the secondary lymphoid organs. The secondary lymphoid organs are the spleen, lymph nodes, lymphoid tissues associated with mucous membranes (Peyer's plaque). The blood stream or cardiovascular system is a closed circuit circulatory system which ensures that blood is carried from the heart to the body's various organs and vice versa. Blood flow enables nutrients, oxygen and hormones to be carried to the body's cells and to collect cell waste as well as regulating various factors such as blood sugar levels. Being overweight damages the heart's condition and its vessels.
