Operation on King's Jockey.- The King's jockey, W.H. Carr, who broke a leg at Birmingham races in June, has undergone a bone-grafting operation on his legs. United States 1940A paper pattern based on previous measurements is cut to fit the man's head exactly for his toupe, and if there are a few fuzzy hairs left on the scalp, those are shaved off to insure a snug fit.

Wartime Hair Dresser- the work of Steiner's Salon, Grosvenor Street, London, England, UK, 1944 At Steiner's salon on Grosvenor Street, London, hairdresser Leonard puts the finishing touches to a customer's hairstyle. According to the original caption, Leonard was discharged from the army after being badly shell-shocked. He was a hairdresser before the war and has been working at Steiner's for almost a year.
