U.S. Route 240. Original caption: A divided highway with thirty-foot traffic lanes on each side of a sisteen-foot median strip. Note low headed cherry trees planted 18 inches behind the curb. These trees are being slowly destroyed by traffic. Only high headed shade trees should as a rule be planted on streets.
