Kayla Shouse, an art teacher at Pierce Terrace Elementary School, challenged students and staff members to color a representation of themself during the month of September. Each individual received a 5.5 x 8-inch card for their nameplate. The schools main hallway became a mural displaying each card, surrounded by this years theme Pierce Terrace Has The Power of WE. The theme increases collaboration while engaging in effective team-building efforts. Individuals created graphic artwork on the wall with crayons and colored pencils to support school spirit. Students perform better academically when involved in social matters and are generally happier when committed to school spirit.
