This example has been variously given to Albrecht Altdorfer, to his school, to the circle of Baldung, or to the young Lucas Cranach (1472-1553). The style of draftsmanship recalls drawings from the region of the Upper Rhine, especially Switzerland. A comparison with the work of Albrecht Altdorfer (ca. 1480-1538) has led to the suggestion that the unknown draftsman worked after an original by Altdorfer from about 1513-15..
