Queen Mary Opens Garden Of Remembrance At St. James' s Church, Piccadilly -- Queen Mary arriving at St. James's Church, Piccadilly, this afternoon, Sunday, to open the Garden of remembrance given by the late Lord Southwood on behalf of the " Daily Herald " to commemorate the courage of the people of London in the 1939-1945. To-day, Sunday, Queen Mary opened the Garden of Remembrance on the Piccadilly side of St. James's Church, which has remained in ruins since it was blitzed in October 1940. Work will shortly be started on restoring the church and most of the necessary £2,500 rebuilding fund has been raised. May 11, 1946.
