Grand National Crowds To See U.S. Horse - Race TrophyThe £3,000 Washington International Horse-Race Trophy - a 28-inch silver globe - is examined by Pan American Airways Stewardess Helen Sullivan at Idlewild Airport, New York, before being flown to Britain.The globe - won in America last year by a British horse, Mr. Robert Boucher's Wilwyn - is going on a European tour. It is the first American turf trophy to be sent overseas for exhibition.The Trophy will be on view to Grand National crowds at Aintree, Liverpool. Afterwards it will go to Newmarket (for the Guineas), Epsom (for the Derby) and Ascot.It will be shown in London during coronation week and will then move on to Italy and France.(Mr. Boucher has a 12-inch replica of the Trophy at his home in Kent). The Girls Who Put Their Nerves on Ice - Moment of triumph. Champion Yvonne Sugden holds her cup as the victory champagne is poured. Looking on is Diane Peach, who was third.It was the night of the figure-skating championships on ice. One by one the girl contestants glided on to the rink at Streatham, where the crowds-and the judges-were waiting. Looking cool, calm and confident, the smiling girls spun and turned, ran and leapt, the flashing blades of their skates cutting intricate patterns on the ice. Len Hutton Receives Sportsman Of The Year Trophy -- Man who has batted his way to the top, Len Hutton, of Yorkshire, England's first professional cricket captain, is seen receiving from Lord Broughley left, at London's Savoy Hotel tonight (Monday) the 'Sportsman of the year' trophy awarded to him in the seventh annual national ballet organised by the 'Sporting Record'.Len Hutton is famous as one of the best opening batmen in the world. In the 1952 cricket averages he was shown to have scored 2567 runs in 45 innings. His highest innings score was 189. He made eleven centuries during the season and his average score was 61.11.
