It is most commonly observed in postmenopausal women who have had several children, and can cause a number of urinary problems (incontinence, dysuria, discomfort, etc.). Treatment includes perineal reeducation to strengthen the muscles. Surgery (cystopexy) may also be performed to reposition the bladder in the pelvic cavity and anchor it to the abdominal wall ot the pubic symphysis.
