Northwest Pakistan. Baltit Fort was the seat of the Hunzakut royal family until 1950s and was then abandoned. It was restored between 1992 and 1996 and is now a museum. The earliest parts of the building, according to radiocarbon tests conducted during restoration work date back to the first half of the thirteenth century and it is clear that the structure has presided over the old road for centuries.
