A Karo woman hangs meat from a slaughtered goat to dry on a pole outside her temporary camp on the bank of the Karo River. A small Omotic tribe related to the Hamar, who live along the banks of the Omo River in southwestern Ethiopia, the Karo are renowned for their elaborate body painting using white chalk, crushed rock and other natural pigments.
