San Jose, California: November 27, 1933. Police officers look at the 30 foot lengths of pipe that the lynch mob used as battering rams to break down the two iron doors of the jail. The officers' efforts to save the kidnapers, John Holmes and Thomas Thurmond, from the mob were futile.
