Women hold a homemade banner which urges, "Stop the Trump/ Musk Coup." They are participating in a National Day of Protest event in New York City. Activists argue that Musk, a billionaire private citizen, who spent more than 250 million dollars supporting Donald Trump's 2024 re-election campaign, now exerts extreme influence over the President and within Federal agencies. Critics say, many actions taken by Trump's administration since his January 2025 inauguration usurp authority from the legislative and judicial branches of government and violate the principle of separation of powers as outlined in the Constitution.
