Date: ca. 1923.Heath Robinson made this drawing for the publisher John Lane at the Bodley Head to illustrate a set of twelve children's stores by Elsie Smeaton Munro. A reviewer wrote in "The Bookman" (December 1923) of the just published book, "...children will take these tales just as they are and enjoy them because they are funny and ridiculous things happen just as little people like them to happen. But older folk will realize their cleverness and perhaps writhe when they see their own caricatures. The author takes our time worn phrases and plots and conceits weaving them brilliantly into her twelve highly original stories.
