White Hats -- When the Queen was in Wellington, New Zealand, she found that small whitehats were proving most effective for public appearances. Wearing them she is identifiable from a distance among the grey toppers and trilbys of her escorts. So a message was sent to her millener, Mr. Aage Thaarup, asking for more small white hats. Mr. Thaarup made them in Sydney, and they were waiting for the queen when she arrived.Mr. Thaarup has just returned to London from a tour of New Zealand, Australia and The East. He told a women college they any idea's he had gleaned were "Only odd scribbles on bits of paper at the moment". April 10, 1954. (Photo by Daily Mail Contract Picture).
