Wheel-Lock from a Hunting Gun, 1600s. Germany, 17th century. Steel, engraved; overall: 22.7 x 16.5 x 5.8 cm (8 15/16 x 6 1/2 x 2 5/16 in.). This wheel-lock mechanism is engraved with a stag and a hound. Images of "the chase" were obviously popular themes on weapons intended for hunting. The name of the locksmith, Georg Bernardton Hauser, can be seen on the wheel.
