The Wedding Held Up the Traffic -- London crowds held-up traffic, jammed the West End, and caused extra police squads when Lady Margaret Egerton, Lady-in-Waiting to Princess Elisabeth, and Mr. John R. Colville, private secretary to the Princess, were married at St. Margaret's, Westminster. A solid mass of women and girls watched 2,000 guests arrive - mostly in taxis. Then there was a hush as the bride - six minutes late by Big Bon - arrived. There was just one cheer. It was for Princess Margaret, who stood beside the other six bridesmaids. Princess Elizabeth, wearing a pale olive felt hat, and the Duke of Edinburgh, leaving after the wedding reception. The King and Queen and other members of the Royal Family also attended the wedding.
