Lid adorned with central, raised shell form, flanked by watery, nautilus-like swirls. Body features highly sculpted, relief work of a nude water nymph riding a horse amid roiling waves. Reverse of lid features same decoration as lid front. Reverse body unadorned except for a sprig of seaweed that falls downward from lid's seam, over left side of box, as well as an elaborate, intertwined monogram (possibly CK). Lid hinged on side.
