Vito Genovese (1897 - 1969) Italian-born American mobster who mainly operated in the United States. Genovese rose to power during Prohibition as an enforcer in the American Mafia. In 1957, Genovese vied for the boss of bosses title by ordering the murder of Albert Anastasia. Genovese died in prison on February 14, 1969.
