Violoncello Head ca. 1670-80 Attributed to Joachim Tielke German This 'cello scroll is carved in maple and features a protruding head with an open mouth and long, flowing mane. It surmounts a four-hole pegbox decorated on the back with a floral pattern carved in low relief. The pegbox has been repeatedly rebushed and grafted onto a later 'cello neck of flamed maple which shows traces of its former fingerboard and attachment to the body of the instrument..
