A Village In India -- the daughter-in-law: Manohar's mother is Kashi. She makes cigarettes for the family, and for sale, on the verandah of a friend's house. Here, too, she meets her friends. Her husband, Sako's eldest son, sends her 7s. 6d. a month from his earnings of 30s. He is a cook in Bombay. Thus she contributes a comparatively large amount to the family's earnings.
