View Over Greenland -- R.A.F. Flies Supplies to British Expedition -- An air view along part of the coast of Greenland, showing the great mass of ice-floes. It was over scenes like this that Sunderland flying-boats of the Royal Air Force flew supplies from Young Sound to Britannia Lake, the main camp of the British North Greenland Expedition, some 190-miles away. This was the third year in succession that the Royal Air Force undertook to assist the Expedition. The operations, apart from making a contribution to the success of the Expedition, proved of considerable training value to the Royal Air Force crews. August 1, 1953.
