The valley of the Tiber River near Orte, Lazio region, central Italy. The river Tiber, to which the history of Rome is linked, flows through central Italy and empties into the Tyrrhenian Sea. In the vicinity of Orte, where its flow rate increases because it receives the abundant waters of the Nera-Velino, it flows however placidly and is characterised by huge loops alternating with alluvial plains and riparian zones.
