Excavation were officially begun to-day (Thursday) in the bombed Church of St. Michael Posternoster Royal, Collage Hill, E.C., in an attempt to find the tomb of Dick Whittington, Whittington, four times Lord mayor of London in the 14th and 15th centuries, is traditionally supposed to lie buried in the Church, which was shattered by German air raiders in 1944.
