The Toba are an ethnic group in Argentina, Bolivia and Paraguay. The Gran Chaco is a sparsely populated, hot and semi-arid lowland natural region of the R�de la Plata basin, sometimes called the Chaco Plain. Northern Argentina reaches into the Gran Chaco. This picture shows a Toba woman carrying a hide case, worn round the neck. The word 'Maleta' also translates as 'saddlebag' Date: 1904
