Three Men In A Boat Marines In Shipwreck Experiment: "Appointment with the sea" - Lieut. J. Potts, takes the tiller, with Marines G. Rawton and D. O. Callaghan, as they head for the open sea. Taking part in an experiment to improve the emergency pack used by shipwrecked sailors and airmen forced down in the sea, are three Royal Marine Commandos who put out from St. Ives, Cornwall, (Thursday), in a 16ft. Open boat, to spend a week at sea with only the standard emergency pack, plus two gallons of water. Their tiny boat will allow them just the same conditions as any shipwrecked sailor. June 18, 1948.
