Test Train Leaves St. Pancras On Record Run To Manchester And Back -- The test train leaving St. Pancras Station, London. A test train of the London Midland and Scottish Railway left St. Pancras Station, London, for a run to Manchester and back over the Midland Route at a timing of 31 minutes faster than the regular schedule. The run was experimental and was undertaken so that valuable technical data could be secured by the export staff of the Dynamometer Car. The train was expected to touch speeds in the vicinity of 90 miles an hour during the run. The experimental schedule from London to Leicester is the fastest on record. April 22, 1937.
