A Sydney artist told the Supreme Court today he was libelled when his portrait of J. B. Chifley was changed to depict the former Prime Minister as a money-lender. The artist, Charles Meere, Rickard Ave, Mosman, claimed heavy damages from the publishers of the Brisbane Courier Mail, who pleaded not guilty. May 21, 1951.
