They are all wearing a long wraparound skirt (redda) and a headscarf. The seated woman and the middle woman are also wearing a Portuguese blouse with a V-neck and long sleeves (hatte). The other three women are uncovered. The seated woman has a child on her lap that she is suckling with her left breast. The four standing women each carry a child on their left hip. Two children can be seen suckling on their left breast. The children are of different ages - from babies to toddlers - and are clearly not African. The drawing of the leftmost woman is not worked out.
