The team come out to the island placing metal panels with different coatings to get covered by sea water twice a day to see how they handle the weathering situations. The team also put up a self-sustaining weather station equipped with solar panels, back-up battery, and video cameras which can send constant observation of the panels to the Hanover, New Hampshire based lab.
