Self-flagellating Islamic martyrs after the Feast of Schachsei-Wachsei - reminiscent of some Christian sects at Batumi (formerly Batum or Batoum), a city on the Black Sea coast and capital of Adjara, an autonomous republic in southwest Georgia, 12 miles from the border with Turkey.
