A section of the main engine bed is here going into place in the/gine room. To the right are the auxiliary engines. These engines play an important part in a ship's life. They supply light and power to work the water pumps, the winches and derricks for loading and unloading and the windlass for getting in the anchor. Electricity is needed to work the ship's ventilation system and for refrigeration. Communication between wheel house and engine room is electrically controlled. September 21, 1951.
