Saint Anthony ca. 1480-85 France France The anonymous artist who painted this miniature was greatly influenced by the French painter and illuminator Jean Fouquet. This leaf belonged to a lavishly illustrated book of hours from which thirty-one other detached leaves survive. The group is distinguished by the use of illusionistically painted architectural frames surrounding a central scenein this case, Saint Anthony seated in a landscape.
