The Royal Tour.The Fiji Islands.H. M. The Queen and H.R.H. The Duke of Edinburgh will arrive in the FIJI islands on December 17th for a two day stay. Our photograph shows an aerial view of the Lautoka Mill on the island of Viti Levu one of the principal islands in the Fiji group. The Lautoka Mill, third largest sugar refining mill in the Southern Hemisphere, belongs to the Colonial Sugar Refining Company which was founded in Fiji in 1880. Sugar refining is Fiji's Humber One industry. The works of the Lautoka Mill are shown on the left, the company officials residences in the centre, and the commercial and shopping centre of Lautoka at the top of the photograph. November 18, 1953.
