Prince Albert bought the 11,000-Acre Estate in 1852 for £31,500 and the Castle was rebuilt three years later. Queen Victoria often held court there and since then The Royal Family kept up the annual custom of staying at Balmoral in the shooting season. The sporting estate abounds with grouse and red deer.
