Reg Gillam is a calm, rather serious young man who in addition to acting in three of the festival plays has designed 40 of the costumes.Born in Caulfield - his mother taught ballet and ballroom dancing - Reg worked for the Commonwealth Railways in the Northern Territory towards the end of the war. He got so fed up with the isolation there that he wanted to study some art when he got back.He started with the National Theatre doing one- line, then two-line, parts and after three years won a Government scholarship to study full-time with the National Theatre. For 12 months he worked in every possible capacity, acting, helping produce, designing. March 26, 1951.
