Record Your Favourite Radio Programme in Your Own Home:Mr. E. H. Niblett, Technical and Works Director, demonstrating the new home recorder.A device with which listeners can make a permanent recording of any radio programme in their homes and then play it over as many times as desired has now come on the market. A magnetic tape recorder, it has a specially sensitised ribbon, which gives a total playing time of 70 minutes, and can pick up with ease the human voice or a radio concert. Being produced in quantity at Wright and Weaire's factory, South Shields, it is providing work for more than 200 people. The recorder is mainly for export but a few lucky people will be able to buy those available for the home market. January 2, 1949. (Photo by Reuterphoto).
