Commander-in-Chief of the British Forces in Germany and British Member of the Control Council for Germany, in succession to Marshal of the Royal Air Force Sir Sholto Douglas. Lt. General Sir Brian Robertson has served as Deputy Governor and British Representative in the co-ordinating Committee of the Allied Control Council since 1945. After serving during the first World War Sir Brian Robertson remained with the Army until 1933 when he retired to take up a business appointment in South Africa until 1939. October 23, 1947.
