Radio Lessons For Malay Schoolchildren: A Radio lesson being broadcast to a Malayan School. Over 1,500 schools in the Federation of Malaya are now receiving the daily school broadcasts sent out from Radio Malaya. These broadcasts, designed as an aid to teaching, were started as an experiment in 1946, and have resulted in schools - both English and Vernacular - being registered as a 'listening' school. The programmes are transmitted twice daily, morning and afternoon, during the school terms. The School Broadcasting Section of Radio Malaya is staffed mainly by professional teachers, each a specialist in his own subject, Educational policy is under the School Broadcasting Advisory Committee which meets once a year to draw up the programmes for the coming year.
