Queen Sees House Conversion Exhibition -- The sun shines as the Queen, wearing a light summer dress, is shown the Ministry of Housing and Local Government's exhibition in Holles Street, off oxford street, London, by the Minister, Mr. Harold Macmillan, today (Tuesday). The exhibition demonstrates how an old house (the one on the left) can be made more suitable for its occupants (as has been done in the other houses here). The buildings in the exhibition are replicas of 19th-century terrace houses. The one in its 'original' condition has no bathroom, hot water, or electricity and is assumed to belong to an elderly war veterna of 74 who suffers from rheumatism and whose wife finds the stairs difficult to manage.
