Queen Mary Visits London Hospital On 25th Anniversary Of Her Presidency Queen Mary stops admire the doll of nine year old Christine Briars of Hitchin Herts. Christine is deaf and dumb. H.M. Queen Mary visited the London a Hospital, White chapel on the occasion of her 25th anniversary of her appointment as President. Her presidency ended with the introduction of the National Health Act and, with the King, she is now one of the Hospital's patrons. In her two hour visit the Queen Mother went into four wards and saw 60 of the 600 patients. She also met more than 100 members of the staff was photographed with them in the hospital yard. On her arrival Queen Mary was greeted by the chairman of the board of old and last year half a million out patients were treated. The Hospital moved to its present site in Whitechapel Road in 1756.
