Queen Mary Is Dead The bulletin, with a London policeman standing bside it, posted outside Marlborough House tonight. The wording on the bulletin is as follow; Marlborough House, N.W.I. Tuesday 24th March 1953. While sleeping peacefully Queen Mary died at Twenty minutes past ten o'clock it is signed by Horace Evans and Webb-Johnson. The 85-year-old Queen Mary, Grandmother of Queen Elizabeth, died peacefully in her sleep at her London residence, Marlborough house tonight March 24th at 2210gmt. The Queen had been ill for some weeks with a stomach ailment, but it was thought that she was recovering. The news that her condition was causing anxiety, issued earlier today, came as a shock to Britishers who had grown to Love and respect the dignified Queen, who seemed unimpressed by the speed and pace of modern living.
