Problem of Mixed Blood Children -- At Semaphore, near Adelaide, an at Alice Springs, in the Northern Territory, the Australian Federal Government is co-operating with the Church of England in a brave attempt to grapple with the social problem of mixed- blood children. The Federal Government subsidies Church hostels at both these centres. There are about30,000 mixed-blood aborigines in Australia, mostly half-cast; or lighter. The Federal Government encourages assimilation.Malcolm is a student as well as an athlete. In 1950 he won a State Continuation Exhibition, open to 4th year Technical College students.
