Simon Elwes new painting of Her Majesty The queen was commissioned by the President and Officers of the Wardroom Mess, the Royal Naval Barracks, Portsmouth. Her Majesty was graciously pleased to sit for the artist at his studio which she visited on twelve occasions. A portrait of great simplicity and grace, it shows the Queen in a dress of white and blue, wearing the Star and Riband of the Garter.
